Sidenor Industrial accelerates business efficiency in tough economic climate with Genero

Madrid, Spain – February 20, 2009Sidenor Industrial, European leader and pioneer in specialised steels announced today the deployment of a new suite of applications developed in Genero. The new systems are designed to accelerate business efficiencies ranging from decision support through to production process control that deliver significant productivity and quality improvements.

“Genero meant I could redesign my industrial systems with a very small team in just months. The results were amazing.”
Carmelo Lopez, IT Industrial Manager, Sidenor.

Due to the nature of its business, Sidenor needs to be light on its feet and constantly improving its processes to meet challenging and evolving market conditions. Information systems that drive production and industrial facilities need to be agile, flexible and new models need to be quickly implemented.

“The new graphical user interface is excellent and the platform extremely reliable. It was an ambitious schedule to modernise all our infrastructure and frankly without Genero it just wouldn’t have been possible.” said Carmelo Lopez, IT Industrial Manager, Sidenor.

Genero was used to modernise information systems dating back 15 years providing industrial control and production management, interfacing with machinery across a variety of sectors such as : steel works, lamination and thermal treatments. These applications integrate all kinds of information from field operations and feedback into the SAP ERP system.

The new Genero applications capture real-time output from the manufacturing process that is subjected to mathematical modelling designed to improve decision making, productivity and above all quality. That level of control is now driven down to the operator, where they are empowered to adjust parameters needed to achieve production objectives.

The project was designed and managed by Sidenor Industrial’s IT department in collaboration with Four Js Value Added Reseller, Certiorem, a leading regional IT skills centre that provided invaluable talent and guidance throughout the design, development and implementation.
